Oskaloosa, Iowa – Mahaska County Supervisor Mark Doland says he won’t resign his position as county supervisor, even after federal documents say he no longer lives in the county.

During Monday’s supervisor meeting, Oskaloosa News asked Doland what his address is. He said he is staying with a friend and county employee Pat Scanlon. Scanlon lives on North Market in Oskaloosa.

When asked about the court documents that say he lives in Norwalk, Iowa, Doland responded by saying “Well, it’s not my legal address.

“It’s not like a residence,” added Doland. The address when looked up on Google Street View, shows a split level home.

Oskaloosa News asked if Doland had then lied to Federal Bankruptcy Court. “No”, replied Doland.

When asked if he believes he has been committing fraud on the taxpayers of Mahaska County, Doland replied “No.”

When asked if he will resign his position, Doland said “No”.

Oskaloosa News asked the other two supervisors, who have been aware there is or may be a residency issue concerning Doland, what if any action has been taken. Supervisor Willie Van Weelden responded, “It’s in the hands of the county attorney.”

In addition to the two previous addresses, Doland filed documents on the sale of home dated April 10, 2018. Doland used 1802 Burlington Road in Oskaloosa as his address of residency.

That home at that address has been vacant since Thanksgiving weekend of 2017.

The board of supervisors meeting continued on without any other comment from the supervisors over the presented information.
