Suzanne Henry 74, of Montezuma died Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Delores Suzanne Henry was born near Montezuma on July 22, 1941, the daughter of Wayne and Pauline Gillam Darland.

Suzanne was a 1959 graduate of Montezuma High School. Suzanne was united in marriage to Edward J. Henry in 1963 and to this union came three children – Marcella, Elizabeth and Jeffrey. They later divorced but she considered the Henry family her own as they always included her in the family functions.

Suzanne worked as a waitress, cosmetologist and was an employee at Sig Manufacturing where she retired in March of 2009.

She enjoyed a good glass of sweet tea, reading, listening to her scanner and her grandchildren.

Suzanne is survived by her children: Marcella (& Randy) Shifflett of Montezuma, Elizabeth (& David) Stoker of Guernsey, Jeffrey “Bud” (& Ann) Henry of S. St. Paul, MN; her grandchildren, Natalie and Brody Henry; a sister, Shirlee (& Larry) Hall of Marengo; a brother, Alan (& Linette) of Marion; former in-laws, Charles (& Bev) Henry of Deep River, Donald (& Janice) Henry of Montezuma, David Henry of Barnes City, Barbara (& Roger) Flander of Grinnell, Donna Conklin of Orlando, FL, Aggie (& Jeff Martin) Henry of Colorado Springs, CO, and Michael (& Diane) Henry of Barnes City; and many nieces and nephews.

Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Loretta; her former in-laws, Edward C. and Josephine Henry; her ex-husband, Edward J. Henry; a former sister-in-law, Nancy Henry; and many others dear to her heart.

A graveside service will begin at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma.
Following the service friends and family will gather at the Montezuma United Methodist Church for refreshments and fellowship.
No visitation is planned.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Montezuma Public Library or the Montezuma Food Pantry.
