David Worrall, 73, of rural Eddyville, died Sunday, June 4, 2017, at his home. He was born November 10, 1943, in Knoxville, Iowa, the son of Roy E. and Minnie Naaktgeboren Worrall, Sr.
David attended school in Oskaloosa, but before his senior year he moved to Arvada, Colorado, and he graduated from Adams High School with the class of 1961.
On August 24, 1962, David enlisted in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in August of 1965. Upon his discharge, David worked as a photographer taking photos all over the United States. In 1970, he moved to Oskaloosa.
In 1970 David was united in marriage to Nancy Kennedy. To this union two children were born, Theresa and David, Jr. David and Nancy later divorced.
When David moved to Oskaloosa in 1970 he took a job at Clow Valve in the Foundry. In 1986, he left Clow and enrolled in a training course to earn his commercial drivers license. Upon earning his CDL, he worked for various trucking companies. Lastly, he worked for Ben Shinn Trucking, retiring from there in 2006.
David enjoyed camping and fishing, taking care of his property and working on cars. Family was the center of David’s life, he delighted in spending time with all of them, especially his grandchildren. He looked forward to the yearly “Brother’s Trip” to Texas where they enjoyed camping and fishing for a month. He was also an avid NASCAR fan.
His family includes his two children: Theresa Worrall of Fremont and David Worrall, Jr. of Eddyville; three grandchildren: Amber Lytle, Jacob Decker, and Logan Worrall; two brothers and their wives: Larry (& Marsha) Worrall of Arvada, Colorado and Richard (& Saeko) Worrall of Salado, Texas; three sisters in law: Marie Worrall (John’s widow) of Oskaloosa, Marty Worrall (Bruce’s widow) of Winterset, and Janet Worrall (Tom’s widow) of Manchester, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, John, Roy, Bruce, and Thomas Worrall.
A memorial service will be held Friday, June 9, 2017, at 2 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating.
Burial of the urn will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa.
Graveside Military Honors will be given by members of the Oskaloosa American Legion and V.F.W. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Thursday after 12 noon in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 6-8 Thursday evening to greet friends and relatives.
