Curt Waddell, 52, of rural Mahaska County died Saturday, July 13, 2019, at his home. He was born July 13, 1967, in Oskaloosa, the son of Harold and Rita Sharp Waddell.

Curt graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1986. He was a very talented athlete and excelled in football and baseball.

Following high school, he worked at Boomsma Eggs and Vermeer in Pella. He most recently did carpentry work.

Curt was a member of the Oskaloosa V.F.W. He enjoyed and loved the outdoors. He spent most of his time hunting, fishing, gardening, trapping, mushroom hunting, and camping. He also enjoyed arrowhead and shed hunting.

His family includes his mother, Rita Waddell of rural Mahaska County; his siblings: Jim (& Shirley) Waddell of Des Moines, Ronda (& Dean) Trainer of Oskaloosa, and Kellie Comstock of Delta; nieces and nephews: Andy Waddell, Kurt Waddell, Darren Trainer, Corey Trainer, Lucas Trainer, Lauren Trainer, Greg Comstock, Alisha Comstock, Nicole Comstock, and Eric Comstock; close friend, Lowell Comstock of Oskaloosa; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2018 at 10:30 am in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Pastor Tony Streigle officiating.
Burial will be in the Henness Cemetery south west of Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at the Bates Funeral Chapel and family will be present from 5:00 to 7:00 pm to greet relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to the family.
