Cornell Volleyball Triumphs Over Grinnell in Thrilling Match
On November 6, 2024, in a tightly contested match, Cornell College’s volleyball team defeated Grinnell 3-1 in front of a spirited crowd at the Small Athletic and Wellness Center. The event attracted an impressive 550 attendees who witnessed both teams display high-level volleyball.
Cornell set the tone early, winning the first set 25-13, capitalizing on strong offensive play and Grinnell’s errors. Grinnell fought back but narrowly lost the second set 25-17. Grinnell showed resilience in the third set, edging out Cornell 25-23, keeping fans hopeful for a comeback. However, Cornell’s relentless drive and effective blocking in the fourth set led to a decisive 25-19 win, clinching the match.
Cornell’s standout player, Ilah Perez-Johnson, dominated with an impressive .217 attack percentage, recording crucial kills that secured points during pivotal moments. Grinnell’s Jenna Keller also made a notable impact with a determined offense, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Cornell’s cohesive team strategy.
