Cora Biggs, 94, of Fremont, died on Friday, May 24, 2019, at Good Samaritan Society Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ottumwa. She was born October 20, 1924, in Yankton, South Dakota, the daughter of James and Mable (Haines) Lane.

Cora attended Ottumwa High School and graduated with the Class of 1942.

Cora was united in marriage to Charles Biggs on March 14, 1945 in Ottumwa. To this union three daughters were born, Barbara, Charlotte and Patricia. Cora and Charles shared 45 years of marriage together until Charles passed away in 1990.

Cora worked as a clerk for Kresge’s for 28 years and retired in 1983.

She was a member of the Fremont United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the American Legion Anderson Post #34 in Oskaloosa. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and traveling to different destinations with the Prestige Club in Fremont.

Cora’s family includes her children: Barbara (& Max) Curry of Fremont, Charlotte Biggs of Clear Lake and Patricia Biggs of Clear Lake; 2 grandchildren, Jason (& Cindy) Curry and Jared (& Crystal) Curry; 5 great grandchildren: Dakota (& Zennia) Curry, Chase Curry, Paris Curry, Cody (& Erica) Curry and Rowdy Curry; and 3 sisters: Mary Alice Nelson, Naomi Seaton and Edith Rooker.

In addition to her husband Charles, Cora was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Augusta Fletcher, Dorothy Taggart, Helen Granneman and Velma Louise Johnston; and her brothers, John D. Lane and Kenny Lane.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at 12:30 p.m. in the Cedar Township Memorial Cemetery in Fremont with Phil Hamilton officiating. The Fremont Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation with the family present will be on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. in the Fremont Funeral Chapel to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to One Vision in Clear Lake, Iowa.
