Construction Continues On New Access To Penn Central Mall

Work is continuing on the new access road to Penn Central Mall

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The East side of Hardees has seen plenty of activity since the beginning of the month, with the installation of a new service road to the Penn Central Mall. A Ave East had been down to a single lane during various times during construction, and currently it appears that the crews from Stevens Concrete are now pouring what appears to be the road bed.

“Plans are to have it completed by mid-August as long as the weather continues to hold out and allow crews to continue work.” says Akhilesh Pal, Public Works Director for Oskaloosa. “Everything is on schedule. We did have a couple of rainy days, but that doesn’t affect us badly.” Pal says about the progress on the project.

Once the new entrance is completed, expect what is now the main entrance from A Ave East into the mall to be closed down permanently. Traffic will then have to use the new entrance. The City will then install the sidewalks, and remark the parking area’s to help keep things safe, and direct traffic. The parking lot directly South of Hardees is also owned by the City, and will not be resurfaced at this time.

When the current entrance is closed, construction will then start on the new skate park being built by MCRF.
