Constance “Connie” Irene Campbell, age 67, of Albia, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2019, at the Monroe Care Center in Albia. Connie was born on March 26, 1952, at St. Joseph Hospital in Ottumwa, IA, to Tom and Theresa (Wilson) Campbell.
Connie attended Albia schools and graduated in 1970.
Connie worked at Principal Financial Group until 1991 when her health caused her to take early retirement.
She had two favorite Dachshunds, Hugo and Heidi, that kept her company. Connie enjoyed walking, going to Casinos, traveling, watching her soap operas and attending Danny O’Donnell concerts. Connie’s true commitment was to the Iowa Hawkeye football team, she rarely missed watching a game and you could hear her cheering from the other room with her pom poms. In 2018, Connie received a signed photo from the Hawkeye football team with some help of family and friends.
You always knew what Connie was thinking, as she told you like it was. Connie never complained during her many years of battling Lupus. She was always a fighter to the very end. She will be truly missed by her family and friends.
Connie is survived by her brothers, Tom (& Jan) Campbell of Green Bay, WI and Bill (& Diane) Campbell of Chariton, IA; a sister, Linda (& Bob) Teno of Melrose, IA; nieces and nephews: Susan Tousey of Minneapolis, Cindy Chavez of Dubuque, Steve (& Jayma) Davis of Chariton, Brian (& Kristie) Davis of Waukee, Tom (& Andrea) Campbell of Missouri, J.D. (& Sara) Campbell of Norwalk, and John Campbell of Prague; and several great nieces and nephews and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Theresa Campbell.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Connie’s family present to greet family and friends.
A 4:00 p.m. rosary will be led by St. Mary’s Altar and Rosary Society and a Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday May 16, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia, with Fr. Michael E. Volkmer C.PP.S. officiating.
Burial will follow services in St Mary’s Cemetery in Albia.
Memorials have been established St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia or the Monroe Care Center.
