Clara Nichols, 84, of Mount Pleasant passed away Friday afternoon, November 29, 2013, at the Arbor Court Nursing and Rehab Center in Mount Pleasant.

Clara Nichols, daughter of Nicholas Anthony and Mabel Irene (Cash) Lenarz, was born July 28, 1929, in Hastings, Minnesota. The family moved to Mount Pleasant early in her life. Clara was a 1947 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School.

Clara worked as a nurse’s aid at the Mount Pleasant Mental Health Institute for 25 years and then moved to Oskaloosa and worked at the Knoxville VA Medical Center for almost 20 years.

Clara was a wonderful cook and she also enjoyed crocheting and knitting.

Her family includes her children: Bruce Bell of Phoenix, AZ and David Bell, also of Phoenix, Tim Nichols of Mount Pleasant, Dan Nichols of Powhatan, VA, and Marcia (Rob) Meeker of the Walcott, IA; and a brother, Lowell (Harriet) Lenarz of Oskaloosa.

In addition to her parents, Clara was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Lenarz.

As was her wish, Clara’s body has been cremated.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel.
