Christopher Davis, 47, of Oskaloosa, died Monday, May 6, 2019, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. He was born April 10, 1972, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Delane and Linda Jacobs Davis.

Chris grew up in Oskaloosa and attended Oskaloosa Schools. He was a talented athlete in high school, he excelled at football and earned the apache gold helmet during his career. He also participated in track, baseball, and basketball. He graduated with the class of 1990.

Following high school, Chris worked for many years at Dugger Construction. Last he worked at Clow Valve in Oskaloosa.

Chris enjoyed cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Kansas City Chiefs football teams’, packing the track and attending the races at the Southern Iowa Speedway with his brother Joel “Tator” Davis, cheering for the Chicago Cubs, and spiffing up to head to Miss Kitty’s in Des Moines. He always looked forward to helping his buddy Bobby Green with his race car and D.J. business at local events.

His family includes his mother, Linda Fowler of Wayland, Missouri; two siblings, Joel “Tator” Davis of Oskaloosa and Linette (& Joe) Lang of Ft. Madison; his step mother, Karen Davis of Grinnell; Jimmie Summers, who was like a brother to him; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father; his grandparents; and his step father, Don Fowler.

As was Chris’ wish his body has been cremated and no visitation is planned. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
A time of remembrance will be held at the Southern Iowa Fairgrounds in the Varied Industry Building on Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The family will be there greeting family and friends and sharing stories of Chris’ life.
Burial of the urn will be held in the Haven Cemetery near Tama at a later date.
