Christine Lynn Harnden, age 44, of Albia, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2019, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, surrounded by her loving family. Christine was born on December 20, 1974, in Burlington, Iowa to Walter and Linda (Mondorf) Harnden.

Christine grew up and attended school in Danville, IA, until her family moved to Albia when she was in the 8th grade. She graduated from the Albia High School with the Class of 1994. Christine then attended college at Indian Hills Community College, obtaining a certificate in child development in 1995.

Christine has worked at the Albia Head Start since 1995. She loved her job there and recently obtained her certificate to be a teacher’s assistant. Christine was truly gifted in relating to children and was loved by all the children whose lives she touched, as well as by her coworkers.

Christine enjoyed Nascar racing and was a Jeff Gordon fan. She enjoyed being outdoors, camping, and watching movies. She liked watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Bears as well as attending Albia sporting events. She loved music and was a Michael Jackson and Backstreet Boys fanatic. Christine loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her nieces and nephews. She was a dedicated aunt who loved attending all of their activities. Christine was a dependable, caring, loving, funny, trustworthy, and very kind person who was always willing to help anyone who needed it and who will be missed by many.

Christine is survived by her parents, Walter and Linda Harnden; 3 siblings: Tammy Harnden, Michelle (& Robert) Parks, and Wayne (& Robbie) Harnden; and her nieces and nephews: Rebecca, Nathan, Colton, and Avery. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and good friends.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Ted and Alice Harnden, Wayne Mondorf, and Delores Mondorf; aunts and uncles: Tommy Harnden, Mary Parcel, Lucille Sleeth, Chester Harnden, Elmer Harnden, and Erma Conner; and several cousins.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2019, from 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Christine’s family present to greet family and friends from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, July 15, 2019, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia with Pastor Brad Gray officiating.
Burial will follow services at Oak View Cemetery in Albia.
A memorial has been established to the family.
