Charles S. Morgan, 68, of Oskaloosa, died Friday, May 24, 2019, at Good Samaritan Society in Ottumwa, while under the care of hospice. He was born Thursday, December 28, 1950, in Oskaloosa, the son of John and Relda White Morgan.

Charles graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1969.

Following high school, Charles enlisted in the army May of 1970 until November 1971. When he returned home, he went to work on the Rose Bud Dairy Farm and then went to work for Supersweet Feeds for fifteen years. He then went on to farm full time, but he would say he was no where near the farmer that his dad once was. Charles was a DAV volunteer and helped drive disabled veterans for fifteen years.

Charles was a 32nd degree mason member Oskaloosa Masonic Lodge No. 644, Eddyville Masonic Lodge No. 74, and a member of Za-Ga-Zig Shriners of Des Moines. He was a member of the Davenport Scottish Rite and held the officer positions of Worshipful Master for both Eddyville and Oskaloosa and Secretary Treasurer for Oskaloosa. He was always one who enjoyed talking to people. You could always find him smiling and he never knew a stranger.

His family includes his two sisters: Janice Taylor of Mount Dora, Florida and Delores (& Gary) Cundiff of Kirkville; two nephews: John Eric (& Lori) Taylor of Austin, Texas and Bryon (& Dagmar) Cundiff of Germany; one niece, Tammy (& Gary) Harland of Ottumwa; one great nephew, Dalton; one great niece, Jayne; and many other step great nieces and nephews.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and a brother in law, David Taylor.

A Masonic service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at the funeral chapel prior to the funeral service.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dan Visser officiating.
Burial will be held in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Wednesday, May 29, 2019 after 12 noon in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the chapel from 5 to 7 Wednesday evening to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Society-Hospice and VA Hospital Stroke Unit in Des Moines, Iowa.
