CEW’s Angelus Layne on her upcoming event at Bradbury Hall

CEW's Angelus Layne has some fun before a recent tag team match.

Most people consider professional wrestling a man’s sport, Angelus Layne would beg to differ.

Originally from Raytown, Missouri, Layne and her family then moved to Fowlerville, Michigan where her family now resides.

During the week, Layne is a full time college student. When she’s not wrestling or at school, she’s hanging out with her husband and their pets.

She describes herself as a rough and tough type of girl, that can hang with the boys and is more than willing to prove it when given the opportunity. She’s got the gold to prove it, sharing the tag team title with her partner Supafli. She says that if they defend those title’s on March 26th, even if her opponents believe they deserve a shot at the title, there is no one that will have the determination to keep those belts like her tag team partner and herself.

Layne has a fond memory of a group of young girls that ran up to her at a show begging her for her autograph, “Each little girl kept telling me how excited they were that I wrestled and how they couldn’t believe that I won. The best moment was when they told me they wanted to be just like me when they grew up.”

When asked about Zack Gowen, Layne said, “I’ve never worked on a show with Zach previously, but I have seen his work. He’s a very talented athlete and you would never think that he had a disability. It’s amazing the way he has followed his dreams and never let anything stop him.”

Layne says she’s not as familiar with Simon Dean other than his work with the WWE. She did say, “He’s a very talented worker who has a lot to teach the independent professional wrestlers.”

CEW’s next event is Saturday, March 26th at Nelson Pioneer Farm’s Bradbury Hall. This event will feature two former WWE wrestlers Zach Gowen and Simon Dean.

Zach Gowen known in the WWE world as “Z” or “Zack Attack” made his first appearance when he was a plant on WWE’s Smackdown. Mr. America gave Gowen an American Flag for being such a loyal fan. Later during the match when Mr. America was being beaten by Roddy Piper and Sean O’Haire, Gowen jumped the barricade and ran to the ring to assist Mr. America. Gowen has made appearances on Smackdown!, and pay-per-views like Judgement Day, No Mercy and Vengeance. During his career, he has either fought along side or against the likes of: Roddy Piper, Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, Big Show, Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle, and Matt Hardy.

Gowen is also a cancer survivor. At the age of 8, his left leg was amputated just above his knee. Gowen walks with a prosthetic leg but can wrestle with or without it. Most times he wrestles without the assistance of his prosthetic leg, and is known for his signature move “moonsault.” Visit Youtube for some past matches and interviews.

Simon Dean will also be on hand at the March 26th Show. Simon Dean is best known for being a physical fitness guru on WWE’s RAW. There, he appeared to be sponsoring the show while selling his “Simon System” and insulting the crowd for their lack of physical fitness.

Dean moved on to Smackdown, and appearances on pay-per-views such as One Night Stand, The Great American Bash and No Mercy.
