Central’s Czipri coaches in USA Volleyball international event

PELLA—Central College’s Jeanne Czipri served as a coach for the Iowa Select International team at the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships at Fort Lauderdale, Florida July 18-22.

Czipri teamed with Loras College coach Jenna Ness to lead the Girls International Select squad (born 2004 and after), which was largely players entering ninth and 10th grades in high school this fall. Two other American Rivers Conference coaches, April Elsbernd and Karrah Davis from the University of Dubuque, were at the event.

The Iowa squad placed sixth in a field which included both state and international teams. The team was 4-4 overall, finishing second in pool play after falling to Team Florida, the eventual silver medalist. The squad also dropped a five-set match to gold medalist SCVA Select from southern California.

“It was an amazing opportunity to be with the best kids in Iowa,” Czipri said. “The HP staff was such a pleasure to be a part of. Everyone wanted to make it a great experience for the kids. It’s something I hope to do again.”

Czipri is entering her third season at Central. The Dutch open the 2019 campaign August 30-31 at the Oregon Trail Classic in Forest Grove and Portland, Oregon.
