Central, U.S. stars win Mexico football bowl game

MONTERREY, MEXICO–Central College defensive coordinator Don De Waard improved to 2-0 as head coach of Team Stars and Stripes with a 29-7 victory over a squad of Mexico college all-stars in the Tazon de Estrellas (Bowl of the Stars) Saturday.

Grove City College (N.J.) tight end Anthony Richie caught two touchdown passes for the U.S.

Dutch defensive back Jason Breon (senior, Anamosa) was the team’s second-leading tackler with six, including three unassisted stops and one pass breakup. Linebacker Mike Young (senior, Country Club Hills, Ill., Hillcrest HS) had four tackles.
