Central named to men’s tennis academic list
PELLA—For the third straight year, the Central College men’s tennis squad was given the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team Award.
Meanwhile, six Central players were named to the ITA Scholar-Athlete Team.
The Dutch posted a 3.33 combined team grade point average and a 12-9 dual meet record, placing third in the American Rivers Conference. To receive the ITA distinction, teams must carry a combined GPA of 3.20 or higher. It’s the seventh time the Dutch have received the award since 2005.
May graduate Colin Jones (Pella) was honored for the fourth time, carrying a perfect 4.0 GPA for the year while Danny Anderson (senior, Boone) was recognized a third time and William Isiminger (junior, North Aurora, Ill.) is a two-time honoree. Tanner Finken (freshman, Carroll, Kuemper Catholic HS), Joe Roberts (sophomore, Lake-in-the-Hills, Ill., Huntley HS) and Ben Turnley (junior, Manhattan, Kan.) were honored for the first time.
ITA Scholar-Athletes must be a varsity letterwinner, post a 3.50 or higher GPA for the year and have been enrolled at least two semesters.
