Central College’s Flying Pans’ Spring Tour
PELLA, Iowa — Central College Flying Pans Steel Band, directed by Stan Dahl, assistant professor of music, will kick off its 2011 Spring Break Tour throughout the Midwest on Sunday, March 13. A special post-tour concert will be held Sunday, March 20, in Douwstra Auditorium at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
The 21-member ensemble, composed of Central College music and non-music majors, will travel throughout Iowa, Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska and will perform at elementary and high schools, churches, Kansas State University and Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo. In addition to performing concerts, the Pans will hold steel pan workshops and clinics. For a complete list of tour dates and locations, see below.
The Flying Pans will perform many selections, including “Eye of the Tiger,” “People are Strange,” “The Monkees,” “Under the Sea” and more.
