PELLA, Iowa —Central College’s Molli O’Brien (Clarion, Clarion-Goldfield) and Kaurie Kincaid (junior, Knoxville) have been selected to the National Golf Coaches Association Division III All-America Scholar team.

To qualify for the honor, a player must maintain a 3.5 or better cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale), compete in 66 percent of the team’s competitive rounds and have a scoring average of 95.0 or lower.

A recent Central graduate, O’Brien had a 3.8 GPA with an elementary education major and compiled a 92.2 stroke average. O’Brien is an academic all-Iowa Conference pick and she was named the team’s Most Improved Player Award winner.

Kincaid had a 3.51 GPA with a mathematics major and posted an 88.6 stroke average. She placed eighth in the 2010 league tournament, earning all-conference honors, and was also an academic all-league pick. Kincaid received the squad’s Maurine Timmer MVP Award.

Central’s women’s golfers have now received All-America Scholars recognition five times. Kim Doyle was cited in 1986, Shannon Hoekstra in 2000 and Courtney Brooks in 2001.
