Cecilia was found taped shut in a plastic tote with only small ventilation holes for the cat. Officials are asking for your help in identifying who may be responsible for Cecilia.

Oskaloosa, Iowa – Taped into a plastic tote, with just a couple of small ventilation holes poked into the container, a female cat, was left by an individual, to what could have been a terrible fate.

The Oskaloosa Police Department took a call on Wednesday night from a concerned citizen at the Oskaloosa brush dump about an animal taped inside a plastic tote. Animal control officials arrived to discover the tote with the female cat inside.

According to information posted to Stephen Memorial Animal Shelters Facebook page, “she was sitting in about 1/2 inch of her own urine and feces that had accumulated in the tote. Cecilia was filthy, and terrified.”

“Considering that Cecelia was left at the brush dump, and the tote she was in was so tightly taped shut, it’s very clear that whoever dumped her intended for her to die in that tote. They didn’t even give her a chance. It’s very hard to come up with the right words to describe how saddened and angry we are,” said the post by Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter.

The shelter said they are looking for assistance in finding the person responsible for placing the female cat, now named Cecilia, by the shelter. Lindsey Sime, the director at Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter says that if found, the person responsible could be facing criminal charges.

You can contact Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter at (641) 673-3991, or on Facebook HERE, if you have any information about Cecilia.
