Carter Van Engelenhoven passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018, at his home in Union, Kentucky at the age of 20.
Carter Dylan Van Engelenhoven was born on May 15, 1998, in Des Moines, Iowa and was the son of Rick and Shari (Ewing) Van Engelenhoven.

The family moved to Perrysburg, Ohio when Carter was nine and to Union, Kentucky when he was 16.

Carter graduated from Ryle High School in 2017. He was very intelligent and planned to become an Officer in the Army.

Carter was full of life, a friend to everyone he met and loved spending time with friends and family. He had a great sense of humor and liked making everyone laugh. He always wanted to be outside and loved hiking, boating, man-tubing, and camping. He spent many family vacations in Oskaloosa, Lake Rathbun, and Florida and loved scuba diving in Mexico. He enjoyed playing sports, especially football. He also played basketball, baseball, soccer and achieved numerous belts in Taekwondo.

Carter had a strong faith and belief in Jesus Christ, and he loved his immediate and extended family.

His family includes his parents, Rick and Shari; two sisters, Paige and Emma; his grandparents: Emmett & Fleeta Ewing and Arvin & Dena Van Engelenhoven; his uncles and aunts: Scott & Jill Ewing, Greg & Diane Ewing, Kevin & Jessica Van Engelenhoven, Scott & Tina Van Engelenhoven, and Drew Van Engelenhoven; and many cousins.

Carter will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him. We are lucky to have loved him and been loved by him. Please hold him close, as we do, in your mind and your spirit.

A celebration of Carter’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday afternoon, October 5, 2018, at Central Reformed Church in Oskaloosa with Rev. Jon Nelson officiating.
A family prayer service will be held at 1:45 p.m. in the east lounge of the church.
Burial will be in Forest Cemetery. Langkamp Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
Memorial contributions can be made in his name and will be designated at a later date.
