Oskaloosa, Iowa: Copeland Auto Body and SS Mobile Blasting hosted the racing action on Wednesday night at the Musco Lighting Southern Iowa Speedway. When the checkered flags flew it was familiar faces making their way to victory lane in all five racing divisions.

The headliner of the night was the Midstate Machine Stock car feature which saw the “Gasman”, Cayden Carter turning in another great run in scoring an impressive win in the 16 lap feature. Carter took the lead on the third circuit by shooting past race leader Nathan Wood. Carter set sail and went on to comfortable win while Wood and Dustin Griffith battled for second. Griffith was able to show his nose to Wood on several occasions but Wood withstood the challenges in holding on for second.

Curtis VanderWal is the first to tell you that a front row start in the Oskaloosa Quality Rental Sportmod feature was a huge advantage. VanderWal piloted his 1V to an impressive win over Logan Anderson and Colton Livezy. VanderWal stated in victory lane, “ there are six or seven guys here that are very capable of winning on any given night, starting up front and being able to ride the cushion around the top side of this very smooth fast track was huge for us tonight.

The Parker Tree Service Hobby Stock feature saw Mike Hughes advance from his second row start and set up a battle with Oskaloosa veteran Rick VamDusseldorp for the feature event lead. The two battled lap after lap until Hughes was able to take control of the point position. Hughes took the win and Dustin Griffith made a late race charge to take second ahead of VanDusseldorp.

Trent Orwig continued his strong season in the Autocrafters Sport Compacts by scoring his 9th win of the season. Orwig has been a regular visitor to the Southern Iowa Speedway victory lane this season. Orwig took the win ahead of Billy Cain, who nipped Nathan Moody at the finish line.

The wingless sprint car feature went to Jonathan Hughes, it was the third consecutive win for the Knoxville driver. Hughes crossed under the checkers ahead of Doug Sylvester and Dillan Alexander.

The stage is now set for the DeJong Manufacturing of New Sharon Season Championships. Season long point champions will be crowned in all five classes on Wednesday, July 31st at the Musco Lighting Southern Iowa Speedway. Hot laps will get underway at 7 pm with racing to follow.
