Burnett Again Breaks Record at Penn Relays

Philadelphia, Pa.–Katie Burnett (Sr., Mesa, Ariz., Arizona) continues to build quite an impressive racewalking resume as she competed at the prestigious Penn Relays over the weekend.

Burnett placed fifth out of eight competitors in the 5K race, finishing in a time of 24:34.40. In doing so, the senior crushed her old school record of 25:49.75 only three weeks ago.

She was just edged at the line by Erin Bresnahan, losing fourth place by .02 of a second.

Solomiya Logan, who was 18th at the 2011 Pan Am Cup, won the event in a time of 23:35.03. 2011 NAIA indoor national champion Jessica Ching was second at 23:51.84.

Burnett has already qualified for the NAIA Outdoor National Championships and will also compete in the 2012 Olympic Trials.
