William Penn University Athletics

Oskaloosa–Eric Burgey (Fr., Easton, Pa., Easton HS) has run his winning streak to 26 matches, helping him to remain one of the top wrestlers at his weight as the NAIA’s sixth and second-to-last rating was released today.

Penn is just outside the top 20 nationally, tied for 22nd with nine points.  Defending national champion Notre Dame (Ohio) is still first, widening its gap over second-place Grand View to 133.5-101.5 points.

Lindenwood (Mo.) has jumped to third, dropping McKendree (Ill.) and Campbellsville (Ky.) one spot to round out the top five.

Burgey remains sixth at 149 pounds and is the lone Statesmen grappler in the national ranking.

As a team, Penn is again sixth in the Central Qualifying Group poll with 62 points.  Grand View holds on to the top spot with a commanding 207.5 points, while #7 Missouri Valley is second with 177.5 points.  Oklahoma City is a distant third with 131 points.

Burgey paces the Statesmen in the Group as well, sitting in second, while 125-pounder Taylor Louie (Sr., West Covina, Calif., West Covina HS) is fifth.

The foursome of David Crow (Sr., Baumholder, Germany, Baumholder HS), at 133 pounds, Jason Mozley (Fr., Arlington, Texas, Martin HS), at 141 pounds, Chris Diaz (Jr., Montrose, Colo., Olathe HS), at 184 pounds, and Roy Torres (Fr., Yuma, Ariz., Cibola HS), at 285 pounds, are all sixth in the Qualifying Group poll.
