Brian Mark McDonough, age 47, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Brian was born on March 13, 1973, in Milton, Florida the son of Chuck and Linda (Davis) McDonough.

Brian attended Oak Harbor High School in Washington State graduating with the Class of 1991. He later furthered his education at William Penn University in Oskaloosa.

In 1996 Brian was united in marriage to Jill Miller. To this union a daughter, Emma, was born. Later Brian and Jill divorced.
On October 27, 2020, he was united in marriage to Kristina McWilliams in Rock Island, Illinois.

After high school, he served his country in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana as a fuel systems specialist. Following his honorary discharge from the military, he came to Iowa and worked various places in the area doing electrical facilities maintenance. He was a member of the Iron Workers Teamsters Union and attended the Omega Church in Oskaloosa.

Brian was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He enjoyed umpiring little league games and refereeing wrestling matches, fishing, researching his family’s genealogy on Ancestry.com and working on the family farm with his grandfather. His real joy in life was spending time with his daughter and attending her different events. The two of them always looked forward to their trips to Chinese restaurants.

Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife, Kristina McDonough of Springfield, Missouri; his daughter, Emma McDonough of Eddyville, Iowa; his parents, Linda (& Chuck) McDonough of Oskaloosa, Iowa; a brother, Curtis (& Shara) McDonough of Donnelson, Iowa; his sister, Lynnette (& Aaron) Lindgren of Eddyville, Iowa; his paternal grandmother, Lee Andersen; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Claude McDonough; his maternal grandparents, Harry and Mollie Davis; and a cousin, Brenda Hook.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Dave Brown officiating.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Eddyville. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
According to the rules put in place by the Iowa Department of Public Health, proper social distancing and reasonable personal protective equipment is advised for attending a religious public event.
The funeral service will be live streamed at the funeral home’s YouTube Channel for those wishing to support the family from a distance.
Visitation with the family present will begin Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at 12:00 p.m. and continue until service time at 2:00 p.m. at the Bates Funeral Chapel.
Memorials may be made to Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter or MHP Hospice Serenity House.
