Books Fill Imaginations While Filling Dreams Of Educations

The 48th Annual AAUW Book sale ends on Saturday.

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The annual AAUW book sale at Penn Central Mall helps to fill imaginations with new ideas and, in turn, helps to provide scholarships for a few young women on their road to a higher education.

The volunteers sort books on Saturday mornings at donated space located within Share Iowa. The work takes months, most times starting in April.

The process has gone on for 48 years now. It’s been at various locations over the years, but has found a home in the center court at Penn Central Mall for some time now.

The books all disappear by Sunday, but it’s not uncommon to see the books being donated back again for the sale. It’s not uncommon for the volunteers to hear, “well, we’ll bring them back when we’re done.”

Saturday morning will begin the “Bag Sale” at 10am and goes until 2pm.

After 3pm on Saturday, all of the books that are left are free until Sunday at 3 pm.
