Oskaloosa–A pair of ranked wrestlers at the same weight, and three overall, have helped the Statesmen wrestling program inch a little closer to the top 20 as the NAIA’s second regular season poll was released Wednesday.

William Penn has two grapplers ranked at 133 pounds with Joao Vicente (So., East Providence, R.I., Secondary Education) moving up one spot to fifth and Scottie Bonds (Fr., Chicago, Ill., Physical Education) making his first appearance in the rating at 14th.

165-pounder Ishmael Rempson (Jr., Olympia Fields, Ill., Industrial Technology) is again ranked, dropping two rungs to 14th.

As a team, William Penn is unofficially tied with Embry-Riddle (Fla.) for 23rd with 16 points.

Grand View barely holds on to the top spot with 129.5 points. Montana State-Northern is right on the Vikings’ heels with 129 points. Missouri Valley (96.5), Campbellsville (Ky.) (94), and Great Falls (Mont.) (78) round out the top five.

In the Central Qualifying Group rating, William Penn is still seventh with 49 points. Grand View remains on top with 205 points, while Missouri Valley is again second with 181 points.

Vicente is now the top regional grappler at 133 pounds, while Bonds is third at that weight. Rempson continues in his #4 position at 165.
