Obituary:
Bobbie Evans Harris was born on February 14, 1920 in Voorhies, Iowa, the son of Orval and Marie (Williams) Harris.
He grew up in the Voorhies and Pleasantville areas. Bob enlisted in the United States Navy on December 22, 1941 and was honorably discharged on December 11, 1946 after serving as a Chief Petty Officer during World War II.
He was united in marriage to Evagene Hickerson on March 27, 1951. They made their home in the Russell area before moving to Millerton in 1963. Evagene passed away on July 3, 1969.
He farmed around the Corydon and Russell areas for many years before working for the City of Humeston. Bob was a salesman and sold both Watkins and Amway products. He commuted to Knoxville to work at the VA Hospital from his home in Millerton until his retirement in March 1982. Following his marriage to Arlene Cooper on December 15, 1984, he moved to Knoxville.
Bob was a member of the American Legion and the Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and canning before his health failed and he was unable to do so anymore. He loved to play checkers and games and put together puzzles with his children and grandchildren.
Bobbie passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Westridge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Knoxville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Evagene; 2 brothers, Bill and Ellis Harris; sister, Mildred Hamrick; and a son, Tommy Harris.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene; daughter, Becky Everman and husband Jim of Allerton; son, Matthew Harris of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren, Mindy Prunty and husband Tim, Katie Randolph and husband Lance, Kiley Everman and fiance Ethan Garrison; great-grandchildren, Kenton and Kinsey Prunty, Colin and Lauren Randolph; and a sister, Anna Mae Blevins of Puyallup, Washington.
