Oskaloosa, Iowa – Oskaloosa football record holder Aaron Blom has committed to the Iowa Hawkeyes as a preferred walkon.

Blom announced his decision earlier in the week, thanking God “for blessing me with the opportunities and abilities that he has given me. Next, I would like to thank my family for being very supportive of me through this whole process and my parents for spending countless hours helping me practice.”

Blom also thanked Oskaloosa Head Football Coach Jake Jenkins “for everything they have done for me the last three years of high school.”

Blom had gotten Preferred Walk On offers from Iowa State, as well as an offer from Western Illinois, before making his final decision.

Blom is preparing for his senior year as an Indian, where besides kicking, he terrorizes offenses from his middle linebacker position.

Oskaloosa Head Coach Jake Jenkins said of Blom, “I don’t hesitate to tell people he’s the best middle linebacker I’ve ever coached at the high school level. If he wasn’t going to be kicking or punting at the next level, he could easily be playing linebacker at the college level. He’s a very talented linebacker.”

The Indians start off the football season on August 23rd in Ottumwa with a scrimmage. The regular season kicks off on August 30th at home against Pella Christian.
