Biden Grabs Some Lunch In Oskaloosa

Vice President Joe Biden emerges from Smokey Row with Smokey Row Manager Steven Jensen on Tuesday afternoon

Oskaloosa, Iowa – It was just like every other Tuesday in Oskaloosa, and the weather had that crisp fall feel to it.

Oskaloosa ended up having anything but a normal day, as a surprise visit by the Vice President to Smokey Row got the town talking.

Biden has been in Iowa on a recent campaign swing and was en-route from Ottumwa to Grinnell. Oskaloosa seemed a logical stop for a cup of chili, along with a tuna salad sandwich on wheat.

While in Osky for over 45 minutes, residents were able to come and go from Smokey Row, nearly at will, but had to pass through a Secret Service screening in order to do so. Once inside, many had their picture taken with the VP.

He took no questions from the press corp, or local reporters, and refused to comment when a journalist asked about Romney’s 47% remarks that were made public. Those comments were gleaned from a secret video tape of Romney at a fundraiser in Florida.

With a wave and a coffee-to-go in hand, Biden climbed into the specially built SUV and headed off for his next campaign stop on the Grinnell College Campus.
