Barnstormers Rain On Danger
Barnstormers win 41-25 at home
DES MOINES – The Iowa Barnstormers (4-2) beat the Nebraska Danger (4-3) 41-25 Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.
The first quarter began with Iowa quarterback Grant Rohach connecting with wide receiver Brady Roland for a 47-yard touchdown pass, but the PAT was no good, 6-0. Nebraska quarterback Jesse Scroggins answered back with a short pass to wide receiver Gregory Dent Jr. for the touchdown, 7-6. Iowa responded on the next drive when Rohach tossed the ball to Roland who ran it in for a short touchdown run, but the PAT was no good, 12-7. Nebraska ended the quarter with a touchdown when Scroggins found receiver Eric Thomas giving the Danger a two-point lead.
To start the second quarter, Iowa’s kicker Cody Barber made a field goal to take back the lead. Shortly after, Nebraska’s Brad Hatfield successfully kicked a field goal of his own to make the score 17-15. Iowa responded with another field goal by Barber, taking the lead by one. Nebraska responded when Scroggins threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to Thomas and the Danger completed a successful two-point conversion, 25-18. In the closing seconds of the first half, Rohach ran the ball in for a Barnstormers touchdown, 25-24.
The Barnstormers began the third quarter with a field goal from Barber, taking the lead 27-25. Barnstormers wide receiver Jonathan Duarte came down with an unbelievable touchdown pass in the end zone, giving Iowa a nine-point lead. Rohach threw one last touchdown pass to receiver Ryan Balentine to seal the win, 41-25.
