Barnstormers Defeat Titans
Iowa wins 48-21 in Des Moines
DES MOINES -The Iowa Barnstormers (7-2) beat the Cedar Rapids Titans (1-9) 48-21 Friday night at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Iowa Barnstormers had a rough start to the game when the Cedar Rapids Titans defensive back Jordan Smith intercepted the ball, returning it for a touchdown. Iowa responded with a short rushing touchdown from wide receiver Skyler Scott, 7-7. On the next drive, Barnstormers running back Donavan Williams added another score to the board, 14-7. Iowa kept the momentum going when quarterback Drew Powell added a score of his own with a quarterback keeper, 21-7. The Titans responded with a touchdown when quarterback Jake Medlock connected with wide receiver Javon Bell for the score, 21-14. Iowa responded with a touchdown from Williams, marking his second of the night, 28-14. Cedar Rapids continued to close the gap with a touchdown of their own when Medlock completed a pass to wide receiver Marquel Wade, 28-21.
The Barnstormers started the third quarter with a touchdown when Powell scored off the run, 34-21. On the next drive, Powell marched the ball in for yet another rushing touchdown, 41-21. Iowa closed the game when defensive back Jeremy Gloston returned a fumble for 24-yards, scoring the final touchdown of the game and securing the Barnstormers win, 48-21.
