Oskaloosa–Mason Bandy (So., Calgary, Alberta, St. Francis HS) had a strong week between the pipes, and for his efforts, he was named Midwest Collegiate Conference Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

The goalkeeper helped William Penn to a 1-1 start for its 2012 campaign, including picking up his first career shutout in a 2-0 win over Ottawa (Kan.) Sunday. The sophomore recorded three saves in the victory.

Bandy tallied five more stops in Friday’s contest against Concordia (Neb.). He currently owns a 1.50 Goals Against Average.

The award is the first for Bandy since donning the navy and goal. It is also the first for the Statesmen program since goalkeeper Tadeo Cavazos also received the defensive laurel on October 18, 2010.
