Arlene Wheaton age 88, died Thursday, July 30, 2020 at the Ridgewood Specialty Care in Ottumwa, Iowa. Arlene was born July 1st, 1932 in Yarrow, Missouri, the only daughter of Arthur and Julia Mehl. They later moved to New Market, Iowa and eventually Pulaski, Iowa where she graduated from High School.

On March 12th, 1954 she married Floyd Wheaton and to this marriage they had two sons, Shelly Wheaton, and Paul Wheaton.

In 1969 Floyd and Arlene moved to Fremont, Iowa where she was a member of the Fremont United Methodist Church and very active in choir. She also took great pride in supporting all school activities and enjoyed working very much with band members by accompanying them on piano during local and statewide solo and ensemble contests. Her greatest joy though was assisting in any way possible the start of Christian Opportunity Center in Pella, Diamond Shelter and finally Imagine the Possibilities in Oskaloosa.

Arlene is survived by her sons: Shelly Wheaton of Oskaloosa and Paul (& Susan) Wheaton of Corpus Christi, Texas; five grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

As was her wish, her body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers Memorials can be made to Imagine the Possibilities of Oskaloosa Iowa.
