Area Artists To Exhibit Work At Indian Hills Art Gallery

Indian Hills

OTTUMWA — Area artists Deb Baughman and Marybeth Heikes will exhibit their recent art work together in the Indian Hills Art Gallery. This exhibit, titled “Life in Color: An Intimate View of Iowa,” will open with a reception for the artists on Monday, Jan. 15, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Deb Baughman of Pulaski works in a variety of painting media, but has concentrated on watercolor for the last couple of years. She works on a wide range of topics from figurative, rural farmscapes to industrial landscapes. Baughman says she “likes to think of the pieces I paint as snapshots, not in a photographic way, but in a memory way, of something glimpsed and familiar.”

Marybeth Heikes is an artist from Centerville. Her watercolors and acrylic collages are characterized by dramatic designs and bold, saturated colors. Her work has been featured in American Artist and The Artist’s Magazines, the Iowa Woman, Sunshine Artist, and The Best of Sketching & Drawing by Rockport Publishers.

“Life in Color” will be on view until Thursday, Feb. 15. The Indian Hills Community College Art Gallery is located in the Ottumwa campus library. The gallery is open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:40 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 4:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Sunday.
