Area Artist Displays Artwork at William Penn University

Julie Ver Steegh

Julie Ver Steegh, a local Oskaloosa artist, is displaying her artwork in the Foyer Gallery at the William Penn Library for the month of October. This display will be available for viewing during regular library hours.

Julie studied Visual Communications at Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, Missouri, and received her BA in Art from Central College in Pella, Iowa. A native of Iowa, Julie now resides southwest of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and supports her artist’s habit with a full-time job as a graphic designer.

Julie celebrates subjects in a wide variety of media including watercolor, block printing, colored pencil, conté crayons, and pen and ink. She selects her medium by studying the light and texture of the subject at hand, but finds watercolor is her current favorite because the paint serves as a partner in the creative process, moving and growing to add to the overall vision.

Julie’s work is influenced by a fascination for Renaissance and Impressionist art, and a love for her native Iowa.

Come and meet Julie at a reception October 11 from 6 to 8 in the Foyer Gallery. Everyone is welcome to attend and view her work.
