Anna Mae Wakeley, 89 of Malcom passed away peacefully Monday morning, February 11, 2019 at the Brooklyn Community Estates in Brooklyn. Anna Mae Wakeley, the daughter of James and Mattie (Griffin) McNaul, was born of March 22, 1929 near Malcom, Iowa.

Anna Mae attended rural school near Montezuma before graduating from Montezuma Community School in 1946. After graduation, she worked at Montezuma Telephone Company.

Anna Mae married John “Jack” Wakeley on August 2, 1947 in Newton, Iowa. They started farming in 1948 west of Malcom. They moved to Fremont for a short time before moving back to Malcom in 1958. Anna Mae worked at the Malcom Telephone Office, Malcom Locker and later babysat in her home.

Anna Mae enjoyed dancing, playing cards with family and friends, camping, and above all spending time with family. She was a member of the Malcom Fire Auxiliary serving as President for one year.

Her legacy will be honored by her six daughters: Janet (& Richard) Kirby of Malcom, Linda (& Butch) Grim of Bloomfield, Carol Graff of Brooklyn, Donna (& Lynn) Baustian of Brooklyn, Susan (& Stan) Altemeier of Newton and Julie (& Rick) Scott of Hamlin; a daughter-in-law, Judy Wakeley of Malcom; 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren; her sister, Agnes Creps of Brooklyn; two brothers, John (& Janet) McNaul of Brooklyn and Harold (& Alta) McNaul of Grinnell; a sister-in-law, Irene (& Dan) Fisk of Searsboro and many other nieces, nephews and friends.

Anna Mae was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Wakeley; her son, Charles Wakeley; a brother, James McNaul Jr.; a son-in-law, Kenneth Graff; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Creps.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am Thursday, February 14, 2019 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma.
Open visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at the funeral home and a family visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Burial will be held in the Ivy Hill Cemetery in Malcom.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Unity Point Grinnell Home Health or the Ivy Hill Cemetery.
