Anita Morgan, 85, of Oskaloosa and formerly of Rose Hill, died Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. She was born October 26, 1933, north of Rose Hill, the daughter of Paul and Lyda Mattox Hicklin.

Anita graduated from Lacey High School with the class of 1952.

In 1953, she was united in marriage to Ralph Lockard. Following their marriage Anita worked various places while Ralph was in the military. Upon Ralph’s return from the military they started their family. Together they had two sons, Robert and James. Anita and Ralph later divorced.

The family farmed south of New Sharon. After her boys were in school Anita worked as a secretary at the Rose Hill School. When the Rose Hill School closed, she took a secretary position at Grant Elementary in Oskaloosa. Last she worked in Central Office for the Oskaloosa Community School District. Anita worked for a time at Don Ann’s Supper Club in Rose Hill as a cook and a cashier. She also worked at the Post Office in Ottumwa retiring from there in 1984, after 8 years of service.

On November 8, 1975, Anita was united in marriage to Keith Morgan. Keith died December 4, 2015.

Anita was a member of the Rose Hill Community Church, Pythian Sisters, and Rose Hill Ruritan Club. Anita enjoyed fishing especially going to the river, watching birds, her dogs, gardening, and playing pitch. Anita’s Faith and her family where the center of her life.

Her family includes her two sons and their wives: Bob (& Kim) Lockard of Oskaloosa and James (& Donna) Lockard of Oskaloosa; two step children and their spouses, Kyle (& Alma) Morgan of Rose Hill and Rhonda (& Steve) Davis of Creston; twelve grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren, and one on the way; her sister, Joyce Gay of New Sharon; a sister in law, Rebecca Hicklin of Hutchinson, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Keith, Anita was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Paul H. Hicklin, Jr, and Donald Hicklin; and two great grandchildren, Kyrstin Lockard and Travis Provo, Jr.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 28, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Del Bittner and Pastor Mike Sinnett officiating.
Burial will be in the Springfield Cemetery near Delta. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin after 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 27, 2019 in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Sunday afternoon from 1-3 to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to Rose Hill Community Church.
