And She Said Yes

Chris Valster asks his girlfriend Shyann Fleener to marry him in between games at the Babe Ruth field on Thursday night.

Oskaloosa, Iowa – It was that quiet time between games at the Babe Ruth fields. Chris Valster enlists the help of his girlfriend Shyann Fleener to prepare the field for the next game.

Valster said his idea started at the kitchen table one day, thinking about how he would propose to Fleener.

While she’s attempting to figure out why she’s out there, helping to clean home plate, Valster takes a knee and asked Fleener for her hand in marriage.

The crowd starts clapping and Fleener says yes.

Chris Valster and his now fiancée Shyann Fleener walk off the field Thursday evening.

For Valster, it worked well because family members were in town from out of state.

“I definitely wasn’t worried she would say no,” added Valster.

“He always says he wants to marry me,” said Fleener. “He’s keeping me happy.”

The couple stepped off the field to the well wishes of friends and family.
