An Evening Of Fun Helps Fund A Season

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The purr of a lawnmower and the smell of fresh cut grass. That season may seem like a distant dream, but that is the season that the Mahaska County Recreation Foundation is looking forward to.

On Friday night, bowlers packed Mahaska Bowl to help raise funds to keep those mowers in gear, preparing the soccer and ball fields for us to enjoy on those spring and summer days.

Fourteen teams helped make up the bowling field this year for the 4th annual MCRF tournament. With 8 bowlers per team, and many others on hand to spectate and cheer, it was a full house.There were approximately 200 people on hand that helped to raise nearly $5,000 for the Lacey Recreation Complex.

Lane sponsors this year were, Bate’s Funeral Chapel, Shinn Brokerage, Inc., Clow Valve, Garland Van Arkel Langkamp Funeral Chapel, Gatton Realty, HyVee, Osky Foods , MidWestOne, Robert Auld Investments, Oskaloosa Vision Center, Edward Jones – Austin Norris, and Kelderman.

A silent auction with numerous diverse donations from Wal Mart, 804 Decor, Mahaska Drug, Mahaska Bottling, Mahaska Health Partnership, The Hair Designers Salon & Spa, Signature Salon, Studio 404 Tan Salon & Spa, Pizza Hut , Breadeaux Pizza, True Value, The Creamery 7 Co., Fridley Theatres, Adventureland, The Iowa Children’s Museum, SkyZone Indoor Trampoline Park, Fareway, The Peppertree, Brown’s Shoe Fit, YMCA, Oskaloosa News, Kelderman Hobby Shack, Smokey Row, Quality Car Wash and Hy-Vee earned $1,421 toward the fundraiser. Swim’s donated the original traveling trophy and will once again engrave the winning Mahaska Bottling team name on it as the third time winner of four.
