Alice Roberts, 80, of Oskaloosa, died Sunday, February 4, 2018, at Mahaska Health Partnership under the care of Mahaska Hospice. Alice was born Sunday, March 14, 1937, in Fremont, the daughter of Floyd and Hazel McBeth McConnell.

Alice attended country school in rural Wapello County. Early on, Alice stayed home to help care for her siblings.

In 1954, Alice was united in marriage to Eddie Suiter and they later divorced. To this union, one daughter, Debra, was born.
On March 14, 1956, Alice was united in marriage to Everett Montgomery and he died April 14, 1985. To this union, four children, Jeannie, Kirk, Everett and Susan were born.
On December 14, 1987, Alice married Valorus Roberts in Golden, Colorado and he died March 25, 2000.

Alice did in-home child care while her children were young. She later went to work washing dishes at Indian Hills while she was taking classes there. Later in life, Alice took culinary arts classes at Indian Hills. She worked at Lutheran Hospital in Wheat Ridge, Colorado and Pella Hospital for 9 years in housekeeping until her retirement from there in 2009.

Alice loved to play Bingo and watching The Young and the Restless. She enjoyed making cheesecakes, going on road trips with her sister Marcene and enjoyed activities at Shady Lodge. She was a member of the Nazarene Church in Ottumwa.

Alice is survived by her three daughters: Debra (& Mike) Williams of Des Moines, Jeannie Poole and Susan Guyette both of Oskaloosa; two sons: Kirk “Sonny” (& Veronica) Montgomery and Everett (& Stacy) Montgomery both of Oskaloosa; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; three sisters: Dorothy Adamson of Kansas, Alberta (& Dale) Stanek of Cedar Rapids and Marcene (& Jim) Powers of Albia; two brothers: Dwight (& Vicki) McConnell of Cedar Rapids and Ervin McConnell of Solon, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; a grandson: Jeffrey Durst; a great grandson: Arden King; four brothers; and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 8, 2018, at 1 PM in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Mike Sereg officiating.
Burial will be in Westview Cemetery in Kirkville, Iowa.
Visitation will begin Thursday, February 8, 2018, after 11 AM in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be present at the funeral chapel Thursday from 11 AM until service time at 1 PM to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to the Alice Roberts Memorial Fund.
