Alberta Louise Bos, 90, formerly of What Cheer passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at her home in Ottumwa, IA. Alberta Louise Kitzmann, the daughter of Albert and Zella Kitzmann, was born on May 6, 1928 on the family farm west of What Cheer.

Louise was proud to be a twin in a family of three sets of twins and three singles. She was raised on the farm and graduated from What Cheer High School in 1945. After graduation, Louise worked at State Auto Insurance in Des Moines for three years.

On January 5, 1949, she was united in marriage to Fred Junior Bos in Oskaloosa, Iowa. To this union, two children were born, Jone and Lester. Louise and Fred farmed together throughout their 53 years of marriage.

Louise was a talented seamstress. She loved to cook, tend her flower beds, and vegetable and fruit gardens. She received many blue ribbons at the Keokuk County Fair as well as the Iowa State Fair for her sewing, baking and canning. She was most well known for her delicious chocolate pie. Louise was a hard worker. She took pride in her home, had a strong work ethic, and was honored to be the family matriarch. Louise also loved caring for her many farm cats.

Louise had been a member of the Gibson Presbyterian Church since 1959, where she taught Sunday School and served as a church Trustee. She was also a member of Dorcus Club and the Jolly Neighbors Club.

Louise is survived by her children: Jone (& Robert) Rongstad of Prescott Valley, AZ and Lester (& Sherrie) Bos of Matagorda, TX; granddaughters: Alison Rongstad of Des Moines, and Rachel Rongstad of Waukee; step-granddaughter Lea Ann (& Dan) Shafranek of Plano, TX; great grandson, Marshall Wahl; step-great grandchildren: Alex and Abigail Johannes and Gavin and Kainoa Landrum. She also leaves behind a sister Enid (& Don) Phillips of What Cheer, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred Bos; her siblings: Harvey Kitzman, Dorothy Churchill, Dwayne Kitzmann, Pauline Hazen, Leroy Kitzmann, Emery Strange, and John Kitzman; and a step-grandson, Jered Landrum.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 am Monday, May 6, 2019 at the Gibson Presbyterian Church.
Burial will be held at Garrett Cemetery north of Delta.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer, with the family present from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family with the dedication to be determined at a later date.
