Indianola–Competing for the second time in three days, and in a much-larger meet, the William Penn track and field teams posted a handful of top-10 finishes at the Simpson Kip Janvrin Open Friday.

Joel Brown (Fr., Columbus, Ga.) guided the navy and gold with a pair of high placings. The freshman was eighth in both the 100 (11.06 seconds) and 200-meter dash races (22.39 seconds).

Mofiyinfoluwa Alade (So., Hoffman Estates, Ill.) had the highest finish of any Statesmen, taking third in the high jump at 6-6.75.

Chris Leiba (Jr., Olympia, Wash., Business Management) was WPU’s fastest 200 sprinter, ending up fourth at 21.83, while Kenneth Bolton III (Fr., South Riding, Va.) placed 10th in the 800-meter run as well in a time of 1:56.87.

Unfortunately, no Statesmen female was able to land in the top 10.

“We had a pretty good day, including having some individuals moving up in the conference standings,” Head Coach Allen Friesen said. “Now we begin our preparations for the league meet next week.”

Next Up: William Penn travels to Fayette, Mo. next Friday and Saturday to compete in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships.
