Daniels wins another male athlete of the week award

PELLA — Central College men’s track and field junior Will Daniels (Genseo, Ill.) was named the American Rivers Conference men’s field event performer of the week for the first time in the outdoor season after winning the decathlon at the Jim Dutcher Memorial Classic over the weekend.

Daniels also garnered mention as the league’s male athlete of the week while setting the school record in the event. He was previously named the indoor male field event performer of the week twice.

Winning seven of the 10 events, Daniels established the new program standard at 7,195 points. It’s the eighth-best decathlon in Division III since 1985 and the best in the country this season. He beat the second-place finisher on Saturday by 679 points

It’s the second time in Daniels career that he has been named the outdoor field performer of the week. He’s been recognized four times during the indoor season
