Majka, Walker Receive NAIA All-America Recognition

Oskaloosa–Two members of the William Penn men’s bowling team collected big-time recognition Thursday as the NAIA released its All-America teams.

Curtis Majka (Sr., Elgin, Ill., Mechanical Engineering) and Nick Walker (Sr., Zeeland, Mich., Business Management) both earned First-Team laurels, their first career recognition, becoming the ninth and 10th All-Americans in program history and the first since the 2013-2014 campaign. Five players were named to the first team, while an additional six student-athletes collected Second-Team honors.

The duo has helped WPU to one of the strongest campaigns in the NAIA this season, including berths in the NAIA and USBC National Tournaments.

Majka led the team this season with a 207.4 pin average in 62 games. He posted a high game of 279 and placed in the top 10 on five occasions.

Walker was a close second in the average column at 205.7, also in 62 games. The senior had a high game of 266, and he finished in the top 10 twice and in the top 25 in three more tournaments.

NAIA Player of the Year laurels were awarded to Sam Cantrell of Grand View, while Robert Kicmal of St. Francis (Ill.) was picked as Rookie of the Year. Grand View’s Melody Felton was tabbed as Coach of the Year.
