Oskaloosa–Three members of the William Penn women’s bowling team were honored for their excellence in the classroom as they were named 2018-2019 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes Friday.

Nicole Craft (Jr., Wakefield, Neb., Physical Education) paced the trio with a 3.95 Grade Point Average, while Kaylee Gerken (Sr., Dubuque, Iowa, Elementary Education) and Bailey Palmer (Jr., Ottumwa, Iowa, Biology) both had 3.68 GPAs entering the spring.

The awards are the first for all three individuals. A total of 49 women’s bowlers from within the NAIA were awarded the laurel.

To be eligible for the award, athletes must be of at least junior academic standing, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, and have attended the nominating institution for at least one full academic year.
