Water Board Begins Process Of Finding New Director
Oskaloosa, Iowa – At a special session on Monday afternoon, the Oskaloosa Water Board began the process of finding the person to replace Chad Coon, the current General Manager at Oskaloosa Municipal Water Department.
Coon tendered his resignation at the previous meeting and will be departing the utility on May 3rd, 2019. He will be moving to Waterloo, Iowa to lead their water department.
The board approved reaching out to Byrnes and Rupkey to potentially help them recruit candidates for the position. If approved, that process could come with a $15,000 price tag.
The board also considered what a potential agreement would be with Coon for post-employment consulting. The agreement would set an hourly wage for Coon if the department were to need his assistance during the transition. It may also cover housing and rent of the home at the water plant north of Oskaloosa.
A document outlining a potential post-employment agreement will be developed with the aid of the Oskaloosa City Attorney Dave Dixon.
The board will also consider appointing an interim General Manager, with a potential candidate coming from within the water department itself.
For now, no official decisions have been made because it’s early in the process, and the board looks to take purposeful steps in its selection process.
