JoAnn L. Sadler, 63, died on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, with her family by her side. JoAnn was born on September 30, 1955 in Waverly, Iowa to Richard and Elda Borchert Stahl.

JoAnn attended West Central School in Maynard, Iowa until her family moved to Grinnell where she attended Grinnell High School.

On November 23, 1973 she was united in marriage to Wayne Sadler. The couple celebrated their forty fifth anniversary last November. JoAnn and Wayne raised their daughter in Grinnell.

JoAnn worked as a certified nurse aide at St. Francis Manor and then at Mayflower Health Care Center before retiring due to health issues. In 2003, she received a kidney from her sister, Alice. JoAnn started dialysis in 2014 and continued until her second transplant in 2017. The day of JoAnn’s death was the second anniversary of her second transplant.

JoAnn enjoyed word find puzzles and attended as many of her grandchildren’s activities as possible. She always looked forward to her road trips with her siblings. Her grandchildren brought the greatest joy to her life. Her smile will be missed and forever remembered.

JoAnn’s memory will be cherished by her husband, Wayne, of Grinnell; her daughter, Tammy (& Kent) Winburn of Malcom; four grandchildren: Emily, Tyler, Joslynn and Russell Winburn; her siblings: Kathryn Morrison, Mary Allison, Alice (& Roger) Anderson and Richard Stahl Jr., all of Grinnell; and several nieces, nephews and in-laws.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Thelma and Sheila, both in infancy; and her brother, Rickie Stahl.

Memorial services will be held on April 6, 2019 at the Carmen Center at the Mayflower Homes in Grinnell starting at 3:00 pm.
