Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Oskaloosa Indians continue to be ranked in the top spot in Class 3A in the State of Iowa.

Every team brings their A game against the Indians, and the Cardinals of Newton were no exception.

Oskaloosa Assistant Coach Randy Howard joined Oskaloosa News’s Jamie Brockman after the game, where the Indians defeated the Cardinals 71-58 to go to 6-0 on the season.

“We’ve been taking good pride in our defense, and tonight we really didn’t play very good defense,” said Howard. “They [Newton] stepped up to the three-point line and shot on us, over us, right in our face. We just got to do better at that.”

The million dollar question after half-time was how to get that defensive intensity back. “We haven’t played well at home yet,” added Howard of the team’s performance.

Henry lead the Indians in scoring and was a strong force on defense. “Cole is really attacking the boards right now,” said Howard.

Cole Henry had 29 points on the night, while Xavier Foster and Rian Yates both had 18 points. The only other scoring came from Austin Hafner with 6 points.

Henry also lead the Indians with 15 rebounds while Foster had 12 rebounds.

The Indians will travel to EBF on Saturday in non-conference play.
