Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Oskaloosa City Council met in regular session on Monday evening, November 5, 2018.

The council heard an audit report from Martens & Company, CPA, LLP. The auditors sent along an “unmodified report.” Additional auditing of the city took place due to the city having additional federal funds that came into the city.

“Overall, I think it’s a good report on the city,” said the auditor, which saw cash balances by an increase of more than 8%.

The debt load increased overall for the city due to capital projects such as sanitary sewer, “but you’re still well under your debt limit that the cities are allowed to be by Iowa law.”

The council voted to authorize receiving the audit report, and payment of the bill for $10,750. An additional amount of $625 was sent to the State Auditors office.

The council approved changing the intersection of 3rd Avenue East from signalized to a two-way stop. That is the intersection near Super 8 motel and the old Wal-Mart store. This was the first reading of the ordinance.

The council waived the 2nd and 3rd reading of the ordinance, and the measure was passed.

Ordinance 10.48 passed the first reading on Monday night restricting on-street parking along South D Street, from A Avenue West to 6th Avenue West.

The public will have one additional chance to address the parking changes along South D Street.

The council then went into closed session.

The next scheduled session is set for November 19, 2018, at 6 pm.
