Fire Causes Heavy Damage To Home In Overnight Fire
Oskaloosa, Iowa – A motorist driving along A Avenue East at approximately 11:35 pm noticed heavy smoke, and notified Mahaska County 911 Dispatchers.
Oskaloosa Fire, Oskaloosa Police Department, and Mahaska Health Partnership Emergency Services searched nearby streets for the cause of the smoke.
Oskaloosa Fire Captain Dan Hoy said that the ambulance crew found the fire. Heavy smoke greeted the firefighters who quickly called for additional personnel.
New Sharon Fire Department was then called in for additional manpower.
Firefighters were on scene for approximatly 2 hours.
The house, located in the 800 block of High Avenue East, suffered the majority of the damage to the central part of the home.
No one was in the home at the time of the fire, as the home was vacant.
No one was injured as a result of the fire.
Hoy said that the fire is under investigation.
Oskaloosa Fire was assisted at the scene by Oskaloosa Police Department, Mahaska Health Partnership Emergency Services, Mahaska County Emergency Management, Mahaska County CERT, Mahaska County 911 Dispatching, and Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office.
